Northeast India is one of the most bird-rich regions in the
world. The dense forests are not only home to various species of skulking
babblers and similarly-plumaged warblers, but also beautiful pheasants and
other stunners such as Fire-tailed Myzornis, Himalayan Cutia, Beautiful
Nuthatch, Ward’s Trogon, and the recently discovered Bugun Liocichla.
However, these forests are also under continuous threats,
ranging from developmental projects and deforestation to tribal hunting.
Not all the news is bad though. From community conservation
projects, aimed at changing local views towards wildlife, to more traditional
conservation methods, the conservation action being carried out here is some of
the most unique, and has even led to several success stories.
This Bubo Birdwatching tour to Eaglenest & Kaziranga
lead by Senior Birder Mike Prince and Asian Adventures aims at not only
enjoying the unique wildlife of the region, but also learn about the changes
being brought about here, and the heroes bringing this change about.
