About Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre
The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre was opened in 1964 as part of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve which is stretched over 4300 hectares to serve baby orangutans that had been abandoned. Since then, the shelter served as a sanctuary for orangutans that have been injured, orphaned, kept as pets, or rescued from smugglers. The caretakers here are used to take care of these creatures with love and train survival techniques to all kinds of monkeys here. The main goal of this reserve is to rehab the orangutans. It is well regarded for the protection of endangered species and to give a message to support them.
